Read-alouds and Children’s Texts

Read-alouds are great for introducing new topics in math. They can provide context, and anchor students learning with examples that can be referred back to. Thoughtfully chosen read-alouds can also provide students with multiple representations of mathematicians, and ways of doing math in different cultures.

Reading in Math

Students need reading skills to help them solve word problems AND so much more in math! Looking at math as a language, students can use decoding, comprehension, and verbal skills to help them understand math concepts in-depth.
